When I have spoken to Kevin about it and also now have one other product now to test! Which is supposed to be as good as SCG.

Here's a for example situation (which may or may not be a real life problem that I need to sort out in the next few days so rapid ideas back appreciated).

So for example a smallish bathroom floor laid in new housing development, floor laid and grouted in grey 3 weeks ago. Sales office now announces that the customer wants white grout. How effective will this stuff be in covering this small oversight? How permanent? Will 1 coat cover the grey?
I don't really want to be raking the grout out as I'm not really confident of getting the joints truly clean before putting the new white in.

Ok I'll make a mental note in case I need to get some in the future.
Its definitely thick enough for one coat over the grey though? I don't want to be going back over it again even in my hypothetical world.

Here is an example of Universeal "Grout Rescue" Colour & Seal from Grey grout to white.

First make sure floor is clean and dry before applying colour & seal.

Shake bottle before use, if using more than 1 bottle of a single colour, ,mix all into a container prior to use to ensure colour match & consistency

Spread the colour sealer evenly onto the grout surface using a good quality brush or sponge working deeply into the surface using a back and forth motion. For best results, apply 2 coats (1-3 hrs drying time between coats)


Excess colour sealer is easily removed from the edges of the tile surface. Use warm water, a sponge or damp cloth approximately 5-10 mins after applying to the grout surface, take care not to wipe the the surface of the grout joint causing any damage to the application of the treatment.


"Grout Rescue" colour sealer is dry to touch after 20-30 mins.


Colour sealer is ready for light foot traffic after only 2-4 hrs, normal foot traffic after 24hrs, commercial traffic after only 72hrs. Always allow minimum of 48 hrs drying time before wetting or cleaning the treatment floor area.

Yes Dave you are correct, colour sealing of grout joints around porous tiles i.e un-glazed tiles & natural stone is not recommended.

Although we state this, like anything there are ways around it.

As a professional involved in restoration you will know that you could take care in application or use a grout release or low quality metalised coating to protect againt pentration into the tile. These protective topical coatings are very easy to remove from the surface of the tile if necessary, so in my opinion may be worth doing to acheive the perfect grout restoration result.

In summary, as a manufacturer we do not recommend the use of "Grout Rescue" colour & seal around porous surfaces, but I believe this is aimed at the "DIY"er.
