This may not go down so well but I think there is a lot to be said about some of the cutters from the less brand names (for cutters that is).. Normally good quality at fractions of the prices...

Ditto Andy! The only "lesser" branded cutter I've used with any success was a Big Clinker, but that was before I had my Montolit. I had a go on one again recently and it felt like cutting tiles with a sponge.
Although I do still use a Plasplugs Mastertiler 5yrs on and still going like a champ.

I might get laughed out at here......but weve have done some vigorous tests with these cutters, put them along side industry standing names and i can honestly say they cut as good if not better.

Hi Lee, there is no way that a genesis cutter will cut better than a sigma, having been on site for over 20 years and sometimes having 20 plus tilers I never have any problems spotting the new guy to tiling. He turns up with a big clinker type and very soon realises that it will not do the job. It will cut the tiles on day 1, 2 and 3 but then the wheel is worn out and all the pro tilers with experience are still cutting away with their sigma or rubi 2 months into the job.

That is the real difference between these cutters, one performs and keeps going, the other needs viagra in larger and larger amounts.

@tiletown lets do it, lets get a rodeo organised. Dry cutters, wet saws and if possible tiling materials competing brands against brand.

What i am saying is they work, if you've not tried them, don't mock them.

Lee, dont take things personally, its not worth it mate. I am not mocking them, they are fine for the regular tiler doing bathrooms and kitchens week in week out. Put them on site and they dont stand up to what they are being asked to do, its as simple as that. I have seen tilers throw their "this is a great cutter" in the skip on site because they have seen real heavy duty cutters doing a far superior job, more quickly and far more accurate on the hardest porcelain.

I have seen the video of the genesis cutters, they look fine so I wont knock them but experience tells me otherwise when it comes to longevity.
